Leisurely hours & family fun

At Shikwa, there is always something to discover, whether you are looking for leisurely hours, family fun or a deeper connection with the heritage of the region. Take a guided tour through the reserved parts of the Haveli, settle into a hammock in the garden with a book, or spend an afternoon over a game of pool, carrom, cards or one of our many board games. For a little more activity, the badminton court offers an easy way to bring everyone together. As the day slows, retreat to our dedicated reading spaces, take a well-deserved nap, or join us for evening high tea in the Burma Lounge—an inviting setting for relaxed conversations.

Beyond the Haveli

The landscape & history around it

For those who wish to explore beyond the Haveli, Shikwa opens the door to the landscape and history around it. Join a guided village walk or a curated heritage walk through Baghpat, walk down to the Yamuna River, visit a local jaggery mill during the winter season when it comes alive, or take a short drive to the historic Begum Samru Church in Sardhana. And as evening arrives, make your way to the Baradari on the top floor for one of Shikwa's most memorable moments—the sunset overlooking the vast farmlands and the Yamuna River, a view that is best experienced slowly and without hurry.

Pre-Mughal-inspired cuisine at Shikwa Haveli
At the Table

Pre-Mughal-inspired cuisine

At the heart of the Shikwa experience is its pre-Mughal-inspired cuisine, an experience in itself and one that often leaves a lasting memory. We take great care in selecting quality, locally produced ingredients and draw from ancestral recipes passed down through generations. Every dish has a story, a recipe and its own little secrets, making each meal a distinctive part of your stay. Every detail is carefully overseen by the lady of the house, keeping alive the flavours, traditions and stories that have been part of the family for generations.
